Dr. Debbie Sookman

Welcome to The Canadian Treatment Center for Obsessive Compulsive Disorders (CTCOCD).

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and related disorders are a prevalent and leading cause of disability world-wide (World Health Organization, 2008). For many individuals, multi-sphere impairment secondary to symptoms occurs in basic self-care, intra-familial and social functioning, capacity for school or work, and quality of life. Available research indicates that persons suffering from OCD should seek specialized treatment as soon as possible following symptom development in order to prevent deterioration of symptoms and related difficulties. Obsessive Compulsive Disorders tend to worsen over time without optimal treatment, and may progress to disability. Treatment for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and Related Disorders is a specialized field.

The CTCOCD offers non-sectorized, bilingual, evidence based specialized treatments for individuals suffering from OCD and/or related disorders throughout the lifespan informed by cutting edge research. Specialized services are offered to Canadians of all ages (children, adolescents, adults) from all provinces and regions, as well as to international residents.

The CTCOCD accepts persons for treatment whose symptoms and related difficulties range from very mild and newly developed to very severe or incapacitating and longstanding. For those persons who are mildly affected the consultation may consist of specific strategies to try at home. For those persons who are severely affected, the CTCOCD offers intensive programs and home-based options in order to optimize recovery. An appointment is offered within three weeks of your call to the CTCOCD.

Clinical consultation, supervision, and training are offered to Canadian and international professionals in specialty CBT for pediatric and adult OCD and related disorders. For further information about training opportunities please contact:
